Shawnee Mission Park Maternity Photo Session | Matt & Ashlyn

It was a beautiful evening for this couple’s maternity photos. The timing for their maternity session couldn’t have been better. We found a beautiful field of sweet flowers to document this exciting time in their lives. The months and weeks before becoming first time parents are full of a wide range of emotions. I loved getting to capture these two slowing down and enjoying the time together to take a few deep breaths and think about their sweet little girl they were about to meet.

Family Photos at Shawnee Mission Park | The Ellsworth Family

I met this sweet family a few years ago when I took Ryan’s high school senior photos in downtown Kansas City. We had to reschedule this session a few different times and we were finally able to find a date where Ryan would be home from college. The date we rescheduled to turned out to me so much better as far as the weather goes. It cooled down quite a bit for the evening compared to the last few days we had been having. It was a treat to have the newest little member of their family, Milo, join us for a few photos.

In-Home Newborn Lifestyle | Baby G

One thing I love about in-home sessions is how slow paced and relaxed they can be. There’s no reason to rush and scramble. When a family is comfortable during their session that often reflected in their images.

Sweet Isla J. was a champ and slept through the entire newborn session. Our secret? Swaddled her up really tight and cozy. It was just what she needed. She was so comfy she snoozed the whole time—making her momma’s wish come true.

The first few weeks after bringing home a new baby are such a blur. It’s often hard to remember what life was like when they were so small and squishy. It’s one reason I love lifestyle sessions so much. These sessions capture those small moments early in a child’s life that are hard to remember because they go by so fast (and because of sleep deprivation).

To the parents of Isla: You guys are doing a fantastic job. Keep it up! <3
